The reactor was composed of Inconel and had an inner
diameter of 22 mm and a length of 700 mm. Alfa-alumina
balls with a diameter of 4 mm were placed on a perforated
disk that was set approximately 190 mm below from the
top of the reactor. The height of the fixed bed of alumina
balls was about 10 mm. The continuous stream of gas leaving
the reactor was cooled to room temperature in a liquid
collector. The gas was then passed through an anisole of
special grade chemicals, manufactured by Wako Pure
Chemical Industries, Ltd., at approximately 273 K. This
gas was collected in an As One gas collection bag through
a Shinagawa W-NK-0.5B wet gas meter.
