For the nesting problem in the leather
manufacturing industry, the surface
represents an animal hide. Different parts of
the hide may be of different leather quality
that results from anatomical reasons or
injuries. There may also be holes on the
hde. In practical applications, also the
templates or parrs of a template may be
required to he of high quality or could be of
lower quality. (For example, the seat, the
backrest and both arms of an m-chair must
he of k h quality whereas the other parts of
the arm-chair can be of lower quality.) The
templates must he placed on the hide
corresponding to their quality. That means,
that the part of a template whch is of a
special quahty must be placed on a part of
the hde that is of the Same or of hgher
quality. Since all hides are different from
each other, a marker generated for one
surface cannot be transferred to another
surface. Therefore, for each surface a new
placement of the templates must be created.
