A wildfire started near Chelan, Washington in August. It has caused the damage of 75 buildings and more than 170 square miles of land. About 1,500 people have had to move out of the area because the fire is getting near their houses.
Firefighters are trying to stop the fire. They use all the methods and tools to battle the fire. They are setting small fires to get rid of dry grasses, branches, and other materials that catch fire easily. Helicopters have to collect water from Lake Chelan and spray it from above to stop the fire.
The Chelan fire is one of the dangerous wildfires in the area. Lightning was responsible for the start of the fire. Flames are also dangerous to the city nearby. Hundreds of homes and other buildings there are in danger of burning.
