Development of foot
The infant foot appears excessive pronated because the plantar is filled with a thick fat pad. Children’s feet growing slowly and become mature at the age about 18 years old. Volpon in 1994 (53) studied the foot length from foot prints of children and adolescents aged between newborn and 15 years. They reported the foot grew rapidly at the first 3 years of age. After that, the rate of growth is constant. Volpon showed that the medial longitudinal arch of foot grew rapidly between 2 and 6 years of age. Human bones are fully developed at the age of 18 years.
