The bone quality, expressed as modulus of elasticity and
compressive strength, had a significant effect on the interfacial
shear strength. An increased value of the bone's modulus of
elasticity resulted in an increase in Ish (Fig. 6a). A stronger bone
support, here expressed as an increase in the thickness of the
bone cylinder, also yielded increased Ish (Fig. 6b).
