There is a correlation between the surface structure, the wall thickness and the draft, which influences the demoulding of structured surfaces. In general, the drafts must increase as the surface roughness increases in order to demould the surface without damage. Also, the drafts can be smaller at identical surface structures but with larger wall thickness due to the higher shrinkage potential. Here, the influence of the shrinkage exceeds that of the drafts. In the case of unfavourable geometric conditions, changes to the processing parameters will not achieve the desired results. If the design allows drawing a core prior to demoulding, smaller wall thickness-draft ratios can be achieved.
