In earlier recommendation, the diseased plants being grubbed
by winching before the affected land fumigated with methyl bromide
(Venkataram, 1972). As a preventive method, the P. hypolateritia
infected bushes were uprooted with their root system and
burned and patches were treated with chemical fungicides which
includes carbendazim, tridemorph and hexaconazole. However,
these chemical fungicides include adverse effects such as residual
problems in tea and its ecosystem.
