(Part 1 History of Teak Spirit House)
I would like to start by the history of Teak Spirit House.
During World War II, Teak Spirit House was created by Mr. Kittisak Phusawat’s grandfather, a farmer in Bangkok. He has brought small pieces of teak wood from Japanese sawmill to make spirit cottage called “San Kwankhao” at the end of his farm to worship the spirit soul who takes care farmers’ rice called “Phra Mae Phosop”. The grandfather’s Teak Spirit House had drawn a lot attention from neighbors’. Then he received many orders from them. His grandfather had developed Teak Spirit House from spirit cottage to be various kinds of Teak Spirit House continuously to serve both Thai and foreigners’ customer demands. At present, it is the third generation; his grandson has developed more interesting styles and patterns according patterns in orders they receive.
