However, even the most well informed driver cannot, in general, be certain
of achieving his desired parking outcome, since this will depend on the
instantaneous availability of parking opportunities at the time the driver
wishes to park. During periods of peak parking demand the spatially diffuse
nature of the parking stock and the competition that takes place between
drivers for use of the most attractive spaces means that a given driver can
never possess perfect information on the instantaneous availability of
parking opportunities, and can therefore never completely avoid the
necessity to sometimes engage in parking search.
