2.4. Preparation of extracts
Shade dried aerial parts of both plants were subjected for size reduction to coarse powder. The powders were extracted with 70% ethanol at 70 °C using soxhlet apparatus for 48 h. The ethanolic extracts of both plants were concentrated in water bath and lyophilisation was carried out at −55 °C to get solid crude extracts. The yield for A. paniculata was 5.8% w/w and that for S. chirayita was 1.4% w/w. The HPLC and HPTLC fingerprint profiles of the extracts are presented in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2.
