RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS
The charcoal amendments significantly influenced pH and EC of the soil. Before
transplanting, pH was increased by all soil treatments compared with the control. After harvest,
the pH was increased by 10:1 soil:Eucalyptus treatment and decreased by 10:2 soil:rambutan and
10:2 soil:rice husk treatment. Before transplanting, EC was increased by 10:1 soil:Eucalyptus and
10:2 soil:rice husk treatments compared to the control. After harvest, EC was increased by 10:2
soil:rice husk treatment (Table 1). This increase of pH might be due to the pH of the tap water
used to water the crop.
