The planning of agricultural production can minimise water use and ultimately to increase the total area under irrigation. Planning of irrigation water use in irrigation projects can improve agricultural production with limited water availability under different climatic conditions.
Crop simulations models are used to determine crop yield, crop water use, and the
relationships between the yield and water use under different crop management at the farm and regional levels. Some features are common in crop simulation models that are estimating water requirements, determining crop growth and generating future weather data. The DSSAT model is improved over EPIC model in estimating crop yields considering impact of climate variability and climate change. Application of EPIC and DSSAT models are brought
