In the medium- to long-term, a general shift away from processes that emit CO2to the atmosphere is expected. Thus, the
search for environmentally sustainable, remediative and control strategies are inevitable. The alternatives include CO2-neutral pathways, such as hydrogen production from the NG steam reforming with CO2 capture, water electrolysis, and the use of biomass (biogas) and waste as raw materials for biofuel synthesis. These technological solutions require downstream
separation and purification, which in many cases can be advantageously accomplished by an adsorption process.
