Our future work will also focus on establishing the controlled
release of particles to an underflow stream, allowing the system
to operate on a continuous steady state basis. Feed would enter
mid-way along the fluidization chamber, while fluidization water
would enter via a distributor near the outer periphery of the
device. An underflow discharge point would be located at the
centre of the fluidization distributor, controlled via a solenoid
valve. This valve would respond to the measurement of the
suspension density, measured along the fluidization zone. Thus,
a portion of the flow would discharge to the underflow, while the
balance would report to the overflow.
