The Footprint of Lord Buddha or Roi Phra Putthabat in Saraburi province is regarded by Thai Buddhists as one of the most sacred places in Thailand. Each year, two ceremonies are arranged to worship the Footprint of Lord Buddha. The first is on the third lunar month – February - and the second is on the eighth; around July. During the two periods, a flower named dok khao phunsa or rain retreat flower blossoms which the locals gather and give to the monks as an offering. The monks then take the flowers to the Footprint of Lord Buddha as a way of paying homage.
