The procedure for the reaction experiment proceeded as follows. First, 1.2 g of EFB and 9.5 g of solvent were introduced into
the reactor, and the reactor was sealed tightly. Next, the sealed
reactor was dipped into the molten salt which was preheated
to the predetermined temperature, and agitated by the shaker
for the predetermined reaction time. The reaction temperature
was 300–400 ◦C, and the reaction pressure was 8.6–29.1 MPa and
17.1–27.9 MPa in water and ethanol, respectively. The reactor was
then taken out of the salt and quenched in water to stop the reaction. The reaction time was defined as the period between the
instance the reactor was dipped into the salt and the instance the
reactor was dipped into the water. After cooling, the reactor was
opened and the products were collected and separated.
