Based on the literature, it is expected that a certain degr
ee of development of the generic skills among student
will be achieved with industrial training as an intervention. When the study is implemented, the findings will
contribute to the stakeholders (engineering students, universities, industries) and the body of knowledge.
Stakeholders can identify the loop holes where they can
improve the industrial training with better planning and
implementation. Consequently, students clearly understand
the objective of the training is not only to integrate
theory and practice in a real workplace settin
g but also for generic skills development.
A framework for generic skills development is proposed
as depicted in Figure 5. This framework anticipates
that individual and organizational characteristics influe
nce the generic skills development among engineering
students. Furthermore, the industrial training interve
ntion is expected to be
a platform in developing
students’
generic skills.
