Paramedics were dispatched to the Ultra-Poly Corp. plant near Portland on Thursday evening to treat a worker who accidentally had cut off three of his fingers. The industrial accident was reported 6:30 p.m. at the plant on 102 Demi Road, Upper Mount Bethel Township. Ultra-Poly makes a variety of products from recycled plastic. Officials radioed that the worker, a man in his 20s, was conscious and alert, and had not lost much blood. His severed fingers were packed in ice in the hope they might be re-attached.
