Alternative assessment utilizes strategies that are effective and beneficial for culturally and linguistically diverse students. Conversely, the use of alternative assessment also shows that there are insignificant differences in the performances of minority and non-minority students. There is no so-called "performance gap" to lower (Allison & Rehm, 2007; Hoskyn, 1994).
