During our visit to Chiang Mai in November 2007 we met some friendly women who told us about this temple in the southern part of Chiang Mai. Hidden behind the small streets in this village-like Chiang Mai environment lies Wat Muen San, a temple deeply connected to the village people. As part of their merit-making the local people here created some amazing pieces of art through metal embossing. We were shown large pieces of metal sheets which were worked on for 6-8 months already and were only halfway completed. A new building on the temple grounds was almost completely covered with these metal sheets depicting religious figures, floral patterns and scenes from normal village life in Northern Thailand.
