Residents of Betong in the far South held merit-making ceremonies yesterday for those killed in the July 25 car bomb attack.
The explosion in front of Betong Holiday Hill Hotel killed three people and wounded some 50 others.
Meanwhile, Prince of Songkla University Pattani Campus's Deep South Watch (DSW) Centre reported that during Ramadan (June 29 to July 27) there were 77 violent incidents - 45 shootings, 22 bombs, one arson and nine other attacks - in the three southernmost provinces. These attacks led to 158 casualties - 33 deaths and 125 injuries. Though attacks this year were fewer, compared to 86 such incidents during the same period last year, the number of casualties was higher compared to 134 last year.
