We have come to define success with having things: so, one of our most common thoughts is, "I need to have enough money in order to help my family, then I will be happy.' Analyzing the last phrase gives us: "I need to have something, in order to do something else, so I can be something." The order of the thoughts expressed is: to have-to do-to be. The authors propose that instead we need to be someone who does things in order to have some other things: to be to do-to have. We are human beings first and human doings second.
