There’s absolutely tragic news to report as former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland has reportedly died at the age of 48.
KNAC.com first reported that Weiland was found dead this evening on his tour bus by his personal manager. No cause of death was immediately given. TMZ reported that the singer was discovered around 9PM. Weiland and his band the Wildabouts were reportedly set to play the Medina Ballroom in Rochester, Minn. tonight, but the show was canceled.
Weiland has famously battled substance abuse over the years, though there has not been any confirmation that this had anything to do with his passing.
Loudwire had just reviewed his show in New York City recently as he was supporting his Blaster album and are absolutely shocked to hear the news. A few artists have begun commenting on the news as well. We’ll keep you up to date as more details come in.
