Early in the morning the fog rolls down off the titiwangsa mountains and into the valley below, blanketing the quaint town of Betong.the lingering clouds are common and they certainly don't stop the residents from going about their normal routines.Locals prepare alms for the Buddhist monks, parents take their children to school via their motorbikes-sometimes carrying three riders behind them, and restaurant owners and shopkeepers open their doors and get ready for the day. Many Betong people are merchants, and they earn most of their profits from Malaysians that frequent the town, a group that comprises 80 percent of Betong’s tourist population. After all, Malaysia is only seven kilometers away.
