As we look at the everyday relations between people in an organization with an eye on
the reality-construction process, new insights on group functioning and leadership also emerge.
We find that the formation of a group or the process of becoming a leader ultimately hinges on
an ability to create a shared sense of reality. We find that cohesive groups are those that arise
around shared understandings, while fragmented groups tend to be those characterized by
multiple realities. In seeing organizations as cultures, we can see almost every aspect in a new
way.
