The building was built in 1920s by the governor of Udon Thani province with helps from Udon Thani merchants and residents to make it the first all-girl school in the province named "Naree Uppatham School". 5 years later, the King Rama VI had given a new name to the school as "Rachinuthit". After the school had moved to larger location nearby, this building had been occupied by government agencies and social agencies throughout the time until 2004 when the municipality decided to turn it to museum.
