The B777-PAX and B777-CGO aircraft are originally equipped with power cords restraining system.
This restraining system safely holds the GPU plugs connected to the external power receptacles.
When this restraining system is missing, the holding of the plug in the receptacle is no more
guaranteed and incidents may happen like electric arc (see Appendix A) or the falling of a power cord
which may cause damages and/or injuries.
For unknown reasons, this power cords restraining system has disappeared from almost the whole
B777 fleet. By summer 2017, this restraining system will be progressively reinstalled on the whole
B777 fleet (passengers and freighters aircraft).
When an aircraft is equipped with this restraining system and when the power cords available at the
station are compatible with it, the restraining system shall be used, as per the standard operation
procedure as described in chapter II.
In case of incompatibility of the aircraft power cords restraining system (too short straps or too small
hook) with the power cords available at station, use the non-standard configuration (see Appendix B)
which consists in hanging the power cord hook (when equipped) on the hook of the aircraft restraining
system.
Any anomaly concerning the restraining straps or hooks of the aircraft must be reported to the
maintenance department and recorded in the “ERA and aircraft inspection form”. This will ensure the
flight safety and the permanence of this system which costs 1 400$ per aircr
