I will love you forever,
Liverpool’s slim chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League all-but faded away yesterday as Brendan Rodgers’ men were held in a 0-0 stalemate against West Brom.
The Merseysiders have missed Daniel Sturridge this season due to debilitating injuries, while Luis Saurez’s departure to join Barcelona robbed the side of the Premier League’s top goalscorer.
As such, Rodgers has revealed that signing a new striker is high up his list of priorities this summer in a bid to complement the attacking players that he already has at his disposal.
"We just don't score as many goals - it's as simple as that,” the official Liverpool website quote Rodgers as saying.
“The players are giving the same effort, the same attitude and the skills they are transferring from last year are the same.
"We had two players last year who played in our front three who between them got 50-plus goals, and we don't have that. But as a team, the players are giving absolutely everything.
"You saw today that they gave everything; there was some really good bits of play, clever bits of invention around the box. It's just that final little piece.
"The numbers will tell you clearly in terms of our goals this year and comparison. This is the third season I've been here and they have grown each year I've been here.
"It's an area we'll look at in the summer and definitely one we have to do some work on. But I give credit to the players because they came out today after a difficult result and performance last week, and showed great confidence.”
Liverpool’s top scorer this season has been Raheem Sterling with only seven Premier League goals, while midfielders Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson have both contributed six.
The summer acquisitions of Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert have clearly not worked, with the pair only netting three goals in the Premier League between them this term.

Sturridge has only managed to feature in 12 Premier League games, scoring four goals, while Fabio Borini has one solitary strike to his name.
The Reds sit seven points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester United with five games remaining and will need to regroup this summer if they are to challenge next season.
