The concept for this project began during a professional
internship for Federal Recycling Technologies
(FRTs) of Norman, Oklahoma. This company intends
to utilize a process known as `pyrolysis' to recycle
tires into valuable, reusable chemical components:
extender process oil, carbon black, steel, gas, ®berglass
pellets, and heat. The oil, carbon black and steel
were intended to be sold in a wide variety of markets.
The gas would be recycled as fuel for the pyrolysis
units. This facility would provide a low waste, clean
solution to approximately 2 the 3 million used tires
produced in Oklahoma annually
