3. More than
half of the responding companies (57 percent) are not considering RFID technology at
present (compared to 44 percent in the 2004 study). This clearly shows that there is a
lower percentage of companies in the 2007 study (as compared to 2004) that are
considering/piloting/implementing RFID and of those considering/piloting/implementing
the technology, a larger percentage of companies are now either in the pilot testing or
implementing/already implemented stage as compared to 2004 when three-fourths of the
companies considering/piloting/implementing were only in the considering stage. This
may be an indication that the technology has matured. Fewer companies are investigating
and researching the technology.
