to 19% after pellet cryopreservation of chicken semen
using a specific procedure, including the discarding of
seminal plasma.
To standardize the pellet cryopreservation procedure for
chicken semen, the effects of different processing conditions
on the post-thaw quality of sperm have to be known.
Some critical steps of the procedure have been already
studied. The initial equilibration time at 4 C of diluted
semen before the addition of the cryoprotectant DMA
significantly affects sperm viability and some motion parameters,
suggesting that a decrease in sperm quality starts
right from the beginning of in vitro processing
