By the time my colleague and I wrapped up a long business meeting with a client, it was already past eight in the evening. Rather than returning to the company, we decided to go to a pub and review the meeting.
I settled the bill at the pub. The next day, when I asked my colleague to reimburse me, he suggested that since we were talking about business, among other things, we should pretend that we were with our client and claim the cost of food and drinks at the pub as a business expense. Since we did actually discuss some business, I do not see a problem in claiming the cost of food and drinks as a business expense.
