The bio-oils collected in the different elements of the condensation system have different properties, thus allowing for its individual valorization. The liquid collected in the scrubber is a light fraction characterized by its high water content and low molecular weight acids and ketones. The heavy fraction collected at the demister and filters has a lower water content and is mainly composed of phenols and other high molecular weight compounds. Furthermore, these fractions can be mixed, obtaining a bio-oil with similar fuel properties to those obtained with other woody species in other reactor types, which may have applications as alternative fuels.
