2.4. Conidial Germination and Germ Tube Length Assay.
Conidial suspensions were made by washing plates of 10-
day-old cultures, grown on PSA at room temperature on
the laboratory bench under natural light and darkness with
5 mL of Tween 80 solution (0.1 mL/L of sterile water).
Conidial concentrations were adjusted to approximately 2 ×
105 conidia/mL by haemocytometer counts. Quantities of
1 mL of the conidial suspensions were flushed into plates of
amended TWA and incubated on the laboratory bench for 18
hours after which 1 mL of mercuric chloride was flushed into
