1 Supramolecular Synthon Approach
The term synthon was given by Corey in the context of organic chemistry and defined as “structural units within super molecules which can be formed and/or assembled by known or conceivable intermolecular interactions”. It‟s a pattern that is composed of molecular and supramolecular elements. In crystal structure when crystal patterns repeat regularly, the pattern of interactions can be called a supramolecular synthon.
