2BLC is a converter that reads signals meant to run a brushed motor. It performs a continuous translation into signals that can stimulate Electronic Speed Controllers (ESC's).
The main application are micro helicopters were the brushed motors are known to fail frequently and an integrated system (4-in-1) provides mixing and gyroscope stabilization functions which makes it desirable to keep using its output signal.
The converter 2BLC is a dual channel device. It receives its power from the ESC1 port, which means that an ESC with Battery Elimination Circuit (BEC) is required for channel 1. Channel 2 can be connected to an ESC with or without BEC, or left unused altogether.
The motor signal ports expect the positive terminal on the square pad and the negative terminal on the round pad. However frequently misleading markings are given so that only by trying one can find the correct orientation for sure. The 2BLC is protected against reverse plugging for both, the motor signal ports and the ESC ports.
The following guide lines help minimize problems on the upgrade:
-the first item on your list should be writing down which motor/servo plugs into which port of the 4-in-1, how are the plugs oriented and what rotation (clockwise vs. counterclockwise) is needed for each motor
-before installing anything the whole system needs to function on the table
-at first connect motors to ESC's and battery to ESC's and 4-in-1 (see Connection Scheme) -plug in only the motor signal and ESC for channel one
-alter orientation of the ESC plug (on 2BLC) and motor plug (on 4-in-1) until motor responds to control -if the motor spins with incorrect orientation switch two wires between ESC and motor (any two will do) -once channel one works fine connect motor signal and ESC for channel two and repeat procedure -write down the orientation for use after installation
The installation requires the usual precautions towards weight distribution and reliable mounting techniques. On the electrical side two things are to be considered:
-make sure that battery is rated for maximum currents
-keep connections short (especially between ESC and motor) and away from 4-in-1 and antenna to avoid radio interferences
For first tests after installation always remove cogs or propellers to ensure that any unexpected behavior poses no danger!
The signals of the status LED decode as follows:
3 blinks:
The converter is ready, both channels are flat1.
2 blinks:
The converter is ready, one channel is flat1 and one exhibits a valid PWM signal. 1 blink:
The converter is ready, both channels exhibit valid PWM signal.
1 Flat can mean that something is wrong with the connection, but also that the control is just all the way up or down. The converter will create the correct ESC signal for the latter two cases.
