The latter dimension of meaning involves two more types of meaning:general meaning and particular meaning. The general meaning in translation is quite similar to the direct meaning, which refers to the meaning that is often or generally used in the language. In contrast, the
particular meaning is the meaning which is not used in most situations. In the following figures, Figures 3.3 and 3.4, two ways of translating a word with its general and particular meanings are compared and contrasted.
