Roy Hodgson is backing Wayne Rooney to have a major impact at the World Cup in Brazil next month and revealed the Manchester United striker is fully fit ahead of England's friendly previous Peru.
The England manager praised Rooney for working extra sessions ahead of the squad's training camp in Portugal last week.
Hodgson also stated he would consider pairing Rooney with Daniel Sturridge up front in Brazil, singling both forwards out as first-class players.
Captain Steven Gerrard said he did not know whether his Liverpool teammate Luis Suarez would be fit to play when Uruguay meet England on 19th June in Sao Paulo.
Gerrard also said he was flattered at suggestions from former England midfielder Paul Scholes that England should play like Liverpool but said England would play "the England way".
Hodgson agreed that taking his country to the World Cup in Brazil was the biggest moment of his career to date.
