BPD was strongly associated with chronic pain in our study.
While not many studies have studied this phenomenon, there is
considerable literature on the comorbidity of BPDs and migraine.
Community studies have shown that BPD with comorbid
migraine is prevalent; a common familial-genetic basis has been
suggested (Oedegaard et al., 2010) and it is associated with
greater dysfunction (McIntyre et al., 2006; Hirschfeld et al.,
2003). The common co-existence of BPD and medical health
problems again stresses the need for a more collaborative system
in which people with chronic physical health disorders would be
screened for psychiatric morbidity and by the same token, mental
health specialists should routinely assess their BPD patients for
physical health problems
