In this study, a newkind of nanocomposite-based packagingmaterial
(Nano-PM)was applied on the preservation of F. velutipes during 4±
1 °C storage. The results showed that Nano-PMwas able to regulate oxygen
and carbon dioxide levels, eliminate ethylene and inhibit the
growth of microbes, which was beneficial on maintaining good sensory attributes, reducing degradation of nutritional components, preventing
physiologic changes, thus prolonging shelf-life ofmushroomduring extended
storage periods. The packaging material has been applied by a
commercial local mushroom producer (Jiangsu Tianfeng Biological
Technology Co., Ltd) for postharvest transportation and sales. However,
it should be noted that this is a pilot study andmore work is ongoing to
elucidate the definite mechanism that Nano-PM functions during storage
to facilitate the application of nano-technology in a broader range
in the future.
