of disease perceived severity and vulnerability,
we echo the CDC and contend health promotion
professionals promote genomics education
for the various communities they serve and also
make genomics education a component of planning
health education programs.55 Health promotion
professionals and other medical professionals
would benefit from using this information to determine
if using a family history approach to decrease
T2D risk can be effective in future prevention
strategies.53,56,57 Such strategies may include brief
genetic counseling which has been found to modify
perceived control of first-degree relatives of T2D
patients58 as well as personalizing health messages
that may be more effective in motivating people to
adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle
