Hence, B38 in the BAB technology exerts additional effect on reducing hazardous effect of Cd; whereas the efficacy of B38 could not be observed in single bioaugmentation treatment (SB). This indicates that the co-application of NG together with B38 (BAB) is crucial for the growth and function of B38, which will be confirmed by the results in the following sections. The increase in plant biomass could be the result of both improved nutrient condition and alleviation of the toxicity of heavy metals.
