As expected, and similar to the findings of the previous predictor
study of ICBT for severe health anxiety, demographic variables
including computer skills did not predict treatment outcome. This
means that variables such as age, marital status, gender, and
educational level are factors that the clinician does not have to take
into account when deciding on whether to recommend ICBT for
severe health anxiety. This is similar to the results of the study by
Hiller et al. investigating predictors of face-to-face CBT (Hiller,
Leibbrand, Rief, & Fichter, 2002).
