US Secretary of State John Kerry will visit Kiev to lend support to the new interim leaders, American officials said Sunday, adding that Russian forces now controlled the Crimean peninsula.

"The secretary will travel to Kiev. He will be there on Tuesday," a senior US administration official said, adding that Russian forces were "now in complete operational control of the Crimean peninsula.
