the current study considers a broad range of practices (43 items),
which can be categorized into traditional and contemporary MAPs. A comprehensive
set of strategies is used and regarded as important contingency factors for this paper.
It is noted that these four different strategic typologies have predominantly been used
separately in MA research; hence, it contributes to the integration of research findings.
No previous research has been undertaken incorporating all of these strategic variables
simultaneously. These strategic variables are used to classify the respondents into
meaningful groups that exhibit specific combinations of strategies. Figure 1 illustrates
the framework of strategic variables as contingency factors and their relationships
with Maps. They are applied in the process of revealing and discussing the MAPs in
Thai companies.
