2.7.3. Cell disruption efficiency determination
Microalgal cell suspensions were sampled for cell counting using a
hemocytometer under an optical microscope (Carl Zeiss Standard 25
ICS, Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC, Thornwood, NY). Samples were diluted
with DI water for convenient observation before cell counting. Only
undamaged cells were counted as intact. The degree of cell disruption
was calculated as
D
(%) = (
C
i
−
C
f
)/
C
i
× 100%, where
C
i
and
C
f
were
the intact cell density (cells/mL) of cell suspensions before and after
disintegration treatments, respectively
