Disadvantages of Friction
Since friction is a resistance force that slows down or prevents motion, sometimes friction can be a nuisance. Any time you want to move an object friction can make the job more difficult. Excess friction can make it difficult to slide a box across the floor, ride a bicycle or walk through deep snow. In any type of vehicle, excess friction means that extra fuel must be used to power the vehicle. In other words, fuel or energy is being wasted because of the friction. Driving at highway speeds with your car windows open can create enough drag on the car and greatly reduce car mileage. The energy "lost" due to friction is converted to heat energy Besides the problem of losing energy to heat, there is also the threat of overheating of engine parts due to friction. Any device that has moving parts can wear out rapidly due to friction.
▪️Friction opposes motion and hence more energy is needed to proceed.
▪️Friction produces unnecessary heat which damages engine parts.
▪️Automobile spins its wheels so much that the tyre starts to smoke.
▪️Friction wears off surfaces in contact like machine parts, shoes and tyres.
