Siam tulips bloom during Thailand's rainy season, between June and August. The humidity of this time of year produces perfect growing conditions for these delicate and beautiful flowers, which are also known as "heaven lotuses," or "bua sawan" in Thai. The rolling hillsides of Chaiyaphum explode in riotous blooms of color every summer, and the Dok Krachiao Blooming Festival celebrates the flowering of the Siam tulip as a symbol of new growth, hope and prosperity for the future.
