Fig.-1 and Table-5 shows the comparative data of DPPH
radical scavenging activity as determined by the IC50 values
of the different leafy vegetables. An IC50 value is the
concetration of the sample required to scavenge 50% of the
free radicals present in the system. IC50 value is inversely
related to the antioxidant activity of crude extracts. Lowest
IC50 value and highest activity was found in etanolic
extracts of Olax psittacorum followed by Leucas aspera,
Ipomoea cairica, Commelina benghalensis, Cassia tora ,
Bauhinia purpurea as compared to ascorbic acid.
