These large houses in the tea country offer luxury accommodation and are not necessarily located on tea estates but do take advantage of the tea landscapes that dominate the area. For example, the Dutch House at Bandarawela is recently constructed drawing on Sri Lanka’s Dutch heritage as inspiration for its design. A fifth type of property is an eco- lodge. This is a more rustic form of accommodation but is tied into the natural surroundings dominated by the tea plantings in the area.
